  • Cyclohexanone is a colourless liquid cyclic ketone and an important building block for the synthesis of a variety of organic compounds. The majority of cyclohexanone produced is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of nylon. One reported method for its synthesis is the palladium-catalysed hydrogenation of phenol. The kinetics of its oxidation reaction have been studied in a fused silica jet stirred reactor, and its Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reduction has been reported.
