  • Melting Point: 295 to 300 °C (subl.) (lit.)
  • Solubility: H2O: 50 mg/mL, clear, colorless
  • Description
  • Application: L-Valine has been used as a standard in thin layer chromatography, as a supplement in Grace′s antheraea medium for culturing cells and tissue from invertebrates, and in the preparation of starvation media to study the role of the relA gene in antibiotic resistance in E. coli.
  • Biochemical Actions: Valine is an essential, branched chain amino acid (BCAA) involved in the biosynthesis of glutamine and alanine, and it helps maintain balance among the BCAAs. L-Valine serves as an energy fuel. Long term deficiency leads to growth failure, organ damage, and loss of muscle mass.
