Cobalt(II) acetate is a crystalline compound that tends to form complexes with other molecules due to the presence of the cobalt ion. It is widely used in catalysis, nanomaterial synthesis and electroplating, and also serves as a drying agent for paints and varnishes and as a reagent to test for the presence of acetate ions in solution.
