  • General Description: Mesityl oxide is an unsaturated ketone. The zinc chloride catalyzed condensation of mesityl oxide with ethyl acetoacetate has been reported.
  • Application: Used in the synthesis of 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1,3,3-trimethyldipyrrin, a crucial building block in the rational synthesis of chlorins and oxochlorins, and as a neutral marker in the preparation of imidazole coated capillary columns for electrophoresis.
