  • Description
  • General Description: Tetradecane is an alkane hydrocarbon containing 14 carbon atoms, generally used as an organic solvent in synthesis. As a nonpolar aliphatic solvent, n-tetradecane works well for aliphatic side chains but poorly for aromatic backbones.
  • Application: Used to study the thermodiffusion behavior of microemulsion droplets of H2O / n-alkanes / C12E5 (pentaethylene glycol monododecyl ether). It also serves as a core material in preparing nano-encapsulated phase change materials (NEPCMs), alongside sodium dodecyl sulfate as emulsifier, resorcin as system modifier, and urea formaldehyde resin as the shell material, and as a selective solvent for studying the phase behavior of block copolymer melts.
